This comprehensive, practically-based half-day course was developed by the Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) as a national standard to ensure that those who suffer cardiac arrest in the community are given the best possible chance of survival.
Course Content
The course focuses on key Cardiac First Responder (CFR) topics including:
Who Should Attend?
The course is suited to those who may be required to respond to a sudden cardiac arrest, heart attack, choking, stroke or unconsciousness in the workplace, in their homes or in their community. Also, ideal training for personnel in a premises or public buildings where an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) has been installed. This could include non-healthcare personnel, lifeguards, sports coaches, teachers and parents.
According to the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, it requires employers to provide the necessary first aid training within the workplace.
Cost
Certification
All successful candidates will be certified in CPR and AED use through PHECC.
Certification is valid for 2 years from date of issue, thereafter subject to re-certification.

- Adult CPR
- Child CPR
- Infant CPR
- Use of Face Mask Barrier Devices
- Automated External Defibrillator - AED
- Recovery (safe airway) Position
- Adult Choking - Conscious and Unconscious
- Child Choking - Conscious and Unconscious
- Infant Choking - Conscious and Unconscious
- Airway Obstruction Adult, Child and Infant
- Aspirin Administration for Heart Attack
- Stroke

- Private instructor led Cardiac First Responder training is €80 for the half-day's training.
- Private instructor led Cardiac First Responder training (for a group of 8) is €500 for the half-day's training.
